After welcoming a new life into your home, taking a few moments to be completely present with your baby is vital and we feel grateful to play a part in recording these moments. From the before the session even begins, we get to understand who you are and the personality of your new baby to ensure that you and your baby are feeling cute and comfortable throughout the shoot.
When to schedule your newborn shoot:
Sessions are best when they occur within 14 days of birth. However, we can capture beautiful images with a timeline fits best for your needs. Try to schedule a time right after a feeding and pick a time of day you think your baby will sleep for an hour or two.
Where to have your shoot:
Either at home or at a studio works. Home is ideal when you have specific props that you would like to have used. The studio is great for parents who do not have props, backdrops, or good natural lighting in their home.
Choosing outfits and set-ups:
Keep it simple: Swaddles, wraps, bows, hats…etc
If there is a specific outfit you would like used, we prefer to shoot in that outfit first as babies are prone to becoming fussy after awhile.
Props and backdrops:
In Home Sessions: Most props are up to you. We do have a few backdrops, blankets, and swaddles available upon request.
Studio Sessions: Moving wall backdrops, paper backdrops, baskets, blankets, chairs and more.
What you should consider bringing to your shoot:
Extra outfits in case of accidents, swaddles, binkies, diaper bags, and formula as well as any special keepsakes you wish to be documented
What should parents wear in the photos:
Keep it simple: solid colors and color schemes if you are coordinating a family shot. Everyday clothing makes a shot look more natural and make sure to wear anything that is comfortable to you.
Day of shoot tips:
Try to feed your baby right before your session and pack extra clothing, pacifiers, and formula.
No need for stress: we are not uncomfortable with crying or fussy babies, and we will take our time to make sure we get the perfect photos.
